Winnie Lijodi was hired for two years before she ventured into entrepreneurship. During those years, she worked for two companies. “My first corporation became a branding and printing company based in Westlands, Nairobi,” says Winnie, who’s in her early thirties. She worked for three hundred sixty-five days and might take domestic 15,000 in step with the month.

In early 2016, she became involved in other activities at a nearby financial institution. She became employed at Kenya Commercial Bank below contractual terms with a monthly retainer pay of Sh25,000. Although her new salary was barely higher than what she had been earning at the printing firm, it was little in contrast to what many of her peers were making within the company internationally.

The exceptionally expanded fee for residing in Nairobi did not make things any less painful to undergo. But whichever way she looked at it, working at the bank corresponded come real. “It turned into a possibility that I ought to have sacrificed a higher pay for. I become convinced it might release me onto a host of larger and moneymaking opportunities in the banking sector,” she says.

CREATE SOLUTIONS

By the end of 2016, Winnie began to have a change of heart. First, her contractual terms were not enhancing at the same velocity that she had hoped for. Over the two years she was in employment, Winnie had begun to develop a love for entrepreneurship. She says it all started with an observation.

“I saw a gap in how offices executed their day-after-day errands,” she says. For example, it observed that most employed people struggled to juggle between the office and buying hours. Also, deep down, Winnie longed for the day she might be her boss and be able to manipulate her very own time and create her own rules of engagement.

Before she stops her activity from venturing into business, Winnie says she started engaging in interviews to discover the precise troubles for which her mission could create answers. “The interviews vindicated my statement. Many of these I talked to confessed how they observed it hard getting time without work their work schedules to run small errands including shopping, selecting a parcel on the bus level, or maybe going to the marketplace,” she says.

In early 2017, she was determined to terminate her banking process settlement and begin her own business. “I advanced my enterprise concept from commentary and interviews, after which I started an actual errands start-up,” she says. She referred to it as her enterprise Run For You Errands.

Today, the commercial enterprise provides courier services to employed people working through busy schedules. “My target customers are in the employment field. The business runs errands along with purchasing, selecting garments from dry cleaners, cleaning, turning in emails, and applying for government services, which include riding licenses,” she says.

Winnie says that starting the commercial enterprise no longer required massive capital funding. In reality, she began it with Sh1,000. “I started with Sh1,000, which I pulled out of my savings. I used the money to shop for a delivery bag, transport ebook, and a word ebook,” she says.
